Titanium Silver Steering Wheel Trim

Abstract - With all the interior pieces painted silver, the black pieces on the steering wheel look out of place. If its plastic, you can paint it!

Purchase - None

Parts - Stock Steering Wheel Trim Pieces

Installations - With most body pieces, make sure you have a good body shop. A bad body shop will yield very bad results. I had my black plastic steering wheel trim painted at Ricks Auto Collision. I was not there at the time of the installation but they explained to their procedure.

Since the black plastic steering wheel trim was smooth plastic they need to sand, prime, paint, and clear coat. If this procedure isn't followed, the paint will have a hard time sticking, the final product will be bumpy and not smooth, the paint will chip easily, etc.

When installing, make sure you remove the trim from the buttons before painting. If you just mask them with tape before paint like I did, it won't come out as good. You need a small torx tool to take the unit apart.

Impressions - It came out as expected. It matched the rest of the car. Another small mod of the week. It also looks cool when you turn the wheel.

Conclusions - If you have a silver interior, painting these to match is a must.
