Sumitomo HTR Z II Tires
Abstract - Large aftermarket
rims require low profile tires. Furthermore, low profile tires improve turning
abilities due to a shorter sidewall design.
Purchase - Bought four new
Sumitomo HTR Z II tires from
Tire Rack - $600.
Parts - Four Sumitomo HTR Z
II 225/40/ZR18 symmetrical directional tires.
Installation
-
I got the AC
Schnitzer Type III Rims and
Sumitomo HTR Z II Tires professionally
balanced and mounted from ADH in Boston, MA.
Impressions - The construction and quality of the
wheels are excellent. The reasons why I bought this tire is because of the
price, durability, quietness, and quality. The tread pattern is a very simple
design for treading water. I have gone 100+ mph in a heavy rain storm and
retained total control, however, they are just about the worst things you can
get once the rain becomes snow. For snowy weather definitely purchase another
set of snow tires for your stock rims. Snow tires have softer rubber and
special tread designs so snow does not stick to the tires. Also, stock rims
are more narrow and much better for snow and ice conditions than wide
aftermarket rims because they cut into the ice better. Without contact the the
ground, you have no friction. Without friction, you are sliding.
Conclusions - Sumitomo makes great tires are great
prices. The tires are made in Japan and of amazing quality.
