Solar Metallic 30% Tint

Abstract - Cars generally look better with its windows tinted. In almost all car commercials, the cars are displayed with heavy tints. Also, tinted windows match silver cars very well.

Purchase - Bought direct from Tint King Inc in Billerica, MA.

Parts - Custom computer cut Solar metallic 30% tint for all windows except front windshield.

Installation - Technicians performed professional installation for $220 including materials and labor.

Impressions - My first impression is that I did not tint it dark enough. I rushed this mod and if I had a second chance I would gotten 20%. I chose 35% tint because I knew that the state tinting laws for Massachusetts was 35% all around, and I did not want to get a fix-it ticket. You can look up your local state tinting laws <here>. After having the tint on for over a year and a half, I notice that the tint is starting to bubble a little at the sides of the glass. From a daily drivers perspective, I felt that the tint was too dark from the inside, because it made sunny days seem gloomy.

Conclusions - Tinting looks great for show, but sometimes it makes things look too dark from the inside. $200 for a professional install and parts is about what everyone is paying. Some say that metallic based tints might affect radar detectors such as the Valentine One.
