Car Computer Version II
COMPLETED
http://e46.mit.edu/6.100
Abstract - Version 1 of the
computer worked great except it was mounted in a cramped location under the
dash in the front passenger seat. Passengers would often be afraid to kick and
nudge the computer. I decided to move the computer to the trunk. It
eliminates a few extra cables and cleans up the mounting. I do loose some
cooling features from the AC, but it was also noted in version 1 that it did
not matter that much.
Since then I have gained a lot of
experience regarding mobile computing environments. Version 2 of the car
computer will include many improvements over the original design.
New AMD 1600+ XP Processor
New MSI Motherboard w/ onboard RAID
Move to ATX form factor for easy
future upgrades
New mounting for entire computer
New cabling for LCD + peripherals
OBDII ENGINE MONITORING
Cameras for saftey
AGP ELBOW
Gas Tube onboard sound card
Extra battery + capacitor to power
the computer
Griffin Tech's Blue button
TIVO?
