BMW Replica M3 Front Bumper

Abstract - The stock bumper of the 2000 323i just looks bad. It is screaming for a AC Schnitzer or Hamann Add-on kit. The M3 front is by far the best looking front for the E46. Anything is possible with time, effort, and money.

Purchase - Bought through an auction on eBay from member "Utomo2".

Parts - Fiberglass Replica M3 bumper painted Titanium Silver

Installations - With most body pieces, make sure you have a good body shop. A bad body shop will yield very bad results. I had my replica M3 bumper fitted and installed at Ricks Auto Collision. I was not there at the time of the installation but they explained to their procedure.

Since the factory bumper has two main bolts, two main side rails, and a bunch of push in clips; factory bumpers are very secure. The replica M3 bumper came with nothing, absolutely no mounting gear. In order to mount the bumper safely, the body shop needs to remove all the existing mounting hardware and hot gun that to the replica. After that you need to have the bumper screwed into the car along the sides to support the missing side rails and push in clips. Ticks Auto Collision finished the job quickly and perfectly. I highly recommend their work.

Impressions - WOW! It feels like I have a brand new car. I had no idea the simple swap of a bumper can make such a big difference. The fitment was perfect, something I was worried about with replicas. The bumper is quite sturdy, I tried to shake it and it would not budge. There are many things about replicas people should know. Most of the time they will not fit well and the cost to make it fit will exceed the cost of a original. Most replicas are made out of fiberglass because it is cheap and easy to mold. They crack easily if they are not thick pieces of fiberglass. There have been people that tried to fit the OEM M3 bumper. The OEM M3 bumper is really wide to accommodate the wide fender of the E46 M3. For this reason, the OEM M3 bumper is too wide for the sedan and the coupe. Also, the hood will also hit the OEM M3 bumper, so a complete M3 hood, M3 fenders, and M3 bumper would be necessary to make a OEM conversion. At that point, your car would look like a M poser and with the amount of money you have spent, you should have gotten a M.

The replica M3 bumper also allows more air into the ducts for the breaks and also my DINAN CF CAI. It also comes with the factory mounting for the fog lights. The replica M3 bumper was well made and designed.

Conclusions - I am extremely pleased with the results; it was much better than I had imagined. It was well worth the money.
