BMW OEM Aero Kit Trunk Wing

The trunk wing on the E46 is a highly debated topic. Some people like it without a wing, some like the lip spoiler on the M3, and some like wings that can make you fly. Personally, I prefer a wing, but nothing that will take me into orbit.

The first wing that caught my attention was the BMW OEM Aero Kit Trunk Wing that was available as an option for the E46 coupes. I was told time and time again that the trunk lines are completely different for the sedan and that the wing would not kit. Well its true, the trunk lines are different. The actual width of the trunk and rear of the car is the same, but as the trunk line approaches the rear window it becomes narrower on sedans. Its only about a quarter inch difference on both sides and something you can't really see several feet away. I love this wing because I think it flows the best out of all the wings I have ever seen on the E46. The wing is the perfect size and designed such that it does not block the driver's view.

Anyway, because I was told this wing wouldn't fit, I ended up getting the Racing Dynamics Trunk Wing. It really wasn't my preference but I received it as a gift from my x-girlfriend so it was free.

Here is a picture of the wing on my sedan. If you look closely you can see that the wing is wider than the trunk lines, but doesn't affect the overall fitment.

Here is a side shot of the wing. The wing has become the furthest point on the back of the car. I think the wing complements the Hamann Replica Roof Spoiler pretty well.

Here is what the car looks from behind. I just added the Rieger Rear Bumper, I think it matches pretty well too.

This is what my car looked like before with the Racing Dynamics Trunk Wing. I think I've come a long way since then. I don't think I could ever go back to that look.
